Busy Books, a small bookkeeping and accounts business based in Westbury, has been named as the UK’s Small Business of the Year at the inaugural Small Awards in association with Facebook.
The company was also named as the nation’s best service business by the Small Awards judges. The awards have been established specifically to recognise the achievements of small and micro-businesses. Busy Books founder Natasha Penny, who set up the business from her kitchen table in 2012, collected the company’s awards at a glittering black tie ceremony in London hosted by television personality, Sue Perkins.
In addition to the awards, Busy Books will also receive £1,000 worth of free advertising credit from Facebook.
In their citation, the judges described Busy Books as, “an exceptional small business, going an extra mile for its customers, creating an out of the ordinary experience, using multiple channels and supporting its local community.”
They went on to say that few accountancy firms “offer such a personal experience, and this has led to consistent growth, accolades and customer loyalty. This business exemplifies what small businesses should aspire to be”.
Over the last five years, the business has developed into a four-woman team supporting around 200 local clients mostly through personal recommendation.
Speaking after collecting the award, Natasha said, “I feel amazing. This was really unexpected. It was a fantastic night and great to be together at the event with so many other great small businesses.”
Michelle Ovens MBE, director of The Small Awards, commented, “Busy Books goes an extra mile and a half for its customers, with supporting other local businesses a part of its mission. The personalised customer service offered by the team is exceptional, and stands out particularly in its sector for going above and beyond for other small businesses.”
The Small Awards in association with Facebook recognises the achievements of small businesses in ten categories across multiple sectors and areas of activity, including high street businesses, family businesses, start-ups and business-to-business companies, as well as those that export, and even companies that contribute most to their community.
