Volunteers at Crosspoint in Westbury have celebrated three outgoing trustees for their ‘outstanding leadership’ as a new chairman takes over.
Hilary Fairfield, Martin Brown and Kevin Fairman were presented with personalised tankards by Andrew McNeilis, Crosspoint’s new chairman, at a celebratory lunch.
“Thanks to Hilary, Martin and Kevin. As the new chair, I am stepping into an incredibly well-run operation that is entirely focused on helping people. It is a real privilege to channel my energies into such a worthwhile charity,” said Andrew.
Outgoing chairman Kevin said, “It has been an absolute privilege to lead Crosspoint and I am incredibly proud of the much-needed help and advice our volunteers and counsellors deliver every week to those in need.”
Crosspoint volunteers provide advice, expertise and support across a range of issues by helping local residents gain access to state support or by signposting individuals to other local agencies supporting those in need. Last year, volunteers and counsellors had more than 1,000 interactions with people across Westbury.
The Crosspoint Welcome Centre is also used by qualified professionals to deliver vital counselling to both children and adults.
The charity relies on volunteers and donations to operate.
Andrew said, “My fellow all-volunteer trustees, Kevin McNeill, Nina Fairman, Julie Vince, Cathy Rose and Sheila Kimmins, all agree it is vital that we keep attracting great volunteers and secure ongoing funding. It is generous donations that enable us to keep the welcome centre open and deliver our counselling services, which, in today’s world, are even more in demand.”
