THE local foodbank is asking you to help make Christmas a little more cheerful for those in need.
The Warminster and District Foodbank, which serves Warminster and Westbury, provides emergency food boxes all year around. Each box provides three days’ worth of emergency food to help people and families experiencing a crisis.
But in December the foodbank also provides festive treats that people would not otherwise be able to enjoy, with their Christmas ‘goodie bags.’
If you would like to donate food, there are collection points at Crosspoint’s Welcome Centre in the Market Place, or the Co-op in Kingfisher Drive.
Non-perishable items are welcome, such as; cereals, long-life milk, sugar, pasta, pasta sauce, tea bags, instant mash potatoes, long-life fruit juice, biscuits, and rice; tins of tomatoes/fruit/vegetables and soup, etc.
People who are experiencing a crisis and need a food box can apply for a voucher at the White Horse Children’s Centre in Eden Vale Road; Welfare for the Elderly at Grassacre Hall (Tuesdays 8.45am-3.30pm); Citizens Advice Bureau (at the Laverton on Wednesdays 10.00am-1.00pm); or the West Wilts Credit Union (at the Laverton on Fridays 9.30am-11.30am).
These organisations are able to ensure the food goes to those most in need.
