WESTBURY League of Friends recently made a donation to the White Horse Health Centre to help improve health services for people in the town.
The League of Friends (LOF) contributed £1,000 towards the cost of an ECG machine last month, and have announced that they will continue to fund the centre’s bimonthly hearing aid repair clinic.
Chair of the group, Erica Watson said, “The LOF recently received a generous donation as part of a legacy. Part of that money has been used to purchase an ECG machine for the White Horse Health Centre.
“The machine is an essential part of the surgery’s equipment; it is an important part of diagnosis which means that patients can receive speedy and appropriate treatment.
“We have also been funding the rental costs for the provision of a hearing aid repair clinic at the health centre, which means that patients don’t have to make the long journey to the RUH when a simple repair can be done locally.
“The LOF have been supporting the clinic since last November and plan to continue supporting this much-needed service. We are very appreciative of Joey Blackburn giving up her free time to run this excellent clinic for the benefit of the community.”
Joey, together with her hearing dog, Jody, runs the hearing aid repair clinic on the second and fourth Fridays of the month from 9.30am to 12.30pm – appointments can be booked at reception.
Manager of the White Horse Health Centre, Mark Dickson said, “The League of Friends have recently contributed £1,000 towards the cost of a new ECG machine for the benefit of local patients.
“Their support is invaluable and very much appreciated by the partners at the White Horse Health Centre. They have also very generously supported the hearing aid repair clinic by funding premises costs at the White Horse Health Centre.
“This service is well supported and very popular with the Westbury population. The partners would like to thank the Westbury and District League of Friends again for their continuing support and generosity towards the surgery and the people of Westbury.”
