
WESTBURY and District League of Friends is still fund raising in the Westbury area in order to raise funds to support health-related needs in the community.
Erica Watson vice-chair of the League of Friends said, “At our recent committee meeting we agreed to donate £2,000 to the appeal for Stepping Stones and £1,000 to Crosspoint which distributes food parcels and offers counselling and other services from its base in the Market Place in Westbury. We have had a number of events in the past year and also donated to Hope for Tomorrow charity and Alzheimer’s Society among others.
“Our annual bingo evening at the Westbury Conservative Club raised over £600 to give to the mobile chemotherapy unit, which visits the town. The League is keen to support all age groups in the Westbury area community and the committee meet regularly to discuss how to identify unmet health needs.
“We are holding a quiz on April 4th at the Whitehorse Country Club starting at 7pm; tickets are £7 and include a hot supper. Tickets can be obtained from Forget Me Not Care Agency, Westfield House, Bratton Road, Westbury, tel. 01373 858333 The quiz starts at 7pm and there will be a raffle with great prizes.
