Westbury RFC Juniors enjoyed a fabulous day out at Bath Rugby Club’s ground, the Rec, forming a guard of honour as the players ran onto the pitch on Saturday 1st November.
Twenty of the junior players were guard of honour, waving their flags as the superstars of rugby exited the players’ tunnel onto the pitch. They were then privileged to do a lap of honour at half-time to the applauding crowd.
80 people represented Westbury RFC at the ground on the day watching the mighty Bath beat London Welsh 47-7 in the LV Cup.
Julian Phelps, youth chairman said, “Big thanks go to Bath Community Rugby staff and stewards that organised the day.
“The young players had an amazing experience and got to meet some of the Bath players after the game for autographs; however I think their favourite was Maximus – the Bath Mascot!”
Westbury RFC Juniors train on Sundays at Knott Field, White Horse Country Park. They are looking to boost their Under 9 and Under 10 squad numbers – so any girls or boys (especially eight or nine year olds) please come along at 10.00am Sundays and give rugby a try.
