A film shot in various locations around Westbury, starring Martin Clunes and James Buckley, will hit cinemas in March.
Comedy-drama, Mother’s Pride, was filmed at numerous local locations, including Westbury Railway Station and the White Horse.
The film follows a grieving family who own a struggling pub, whose fortunes begin to change when they start brewing their own beer and take a chance on entering the Great British Beer Awards.
Local residents were surprised to spot Martin Clunes at the White Horse in 2024. The landmark features a notable scene in which the family come together to spread their mother’s ashes.

Westbury resident Barbara Swan said, “My brother Alan and I went to photograph paragliders, but were distracted when we saw the parking area cordoned off. We then noticed a film make-up and wardrobe truck and spotted Martin Clunes about to leave. We asked for a quick photo, thanked him, and he dashed off.”

The film stars James Buckley, Martin Clunes, Jonno Davies, Miles Jupp, Gabriella Wilde and Mark Addy, and will be released in cinemas on Friday 6th March.
Director Nick Moorcroft said, “This project is deeply personal. Like many of us, I have witnessed firsthand the vital role that pubs play as the beating heart of British towns, cities and villages — places where people gather, share stories, combat isolation and loneliness, and find community and a sense of belonging.
“When scouting locations, we encountered too many beloved pubs standing empty, their histories and memories at risk of fading forever.
“This film is, in many ways, a love letter to those institutions and the communities they sustain. It honours the small, family-run pubs that are under threat, while highlighting how collective effort, creativity and a shared passion (in this case, for real ale) can spark hope when all feels lost and bring people back together.”
