A HOST of vehicles from a bygone age will be found in Top Field, Bratton, as the annual Westbury Transport and Vintage Gathering takes place later this month.
Also known locally as the Transport Extravaganza, the event will take place on Saturday 27th – Sunday 28th April from 9am each day.
Exhibits will include stationary engines, military vehicles, cars, fire engines, trucks, tractors, motorbikes, and a range of models. There will also be plenty of stalls and fairground entertainments.
Now in its 18th year, the event continues to grow. Organiser Keith Miller said, “As an event it is steadily growing and steadily developing. We’re getting enquiries from a wider and wider area.
“I think what’s kept it so popular is that it is very much a locally focused event, and anybody can come along with their vehicle. We’re not sniffy about what people bring – if somebody is preserving a car or machine we’re very happy for that to come along.
“We have to make sure we’re fully insured and compile with health and safety, which we do, but we try to keep the event as free of red tape as possible.”
Entry costs the same as it did 18 years ago: £2 for adults, and children are free. A local bus service passes the site on the Saturday, and there is also plenty of car parking on site.
