THE annual Westbury Young People’s awards for 2022 will be held on Wednesday 11th May at Matravers School.
Organised by Westbury Area Board, the awards are about celebrating the achievements of remarkable children and young people who live in the Westbury community area.
Organisers say, “We are crossing all of our fingers that nothing will stop us this time, and with current conditions, we should be able to run the event with a full capacity and production in the theatre at the school.”
The awards ceremony was due to take place in November of last year, but the event was postponed due to Covid-19 restrictions.
There are a range of awards on offer this year: Young Achiever Award, Young Carer Award, Volunteering Award, Young Leader Award, Sporting Individual Award, Sporting Team Award, Young Environmental Champion Award, School Council Award, Young Individual Arts Award, Young Team Arts Award and COVID-19 Local Hero Award.
Any young person aged 18 and under (and up to 25 years with a learning disability), living in the Westbury Community Area (Westbury, Coulston, Edington, Bratton, Heywood, Hawkeridge and Dilton Marsh) can be nominated for an award. Nominations are still open on the Young Westbury website: https:// www.youngwestbury.org.uk.
