CROCUSES planted in Westbury in late 2019 / early 2020 for the Rotary’s End Polio campaign make a pretty picture, as these photos sent to White Horse News show.
Rotary Club president David Pike said, “The Prospect Square crocuses are a bit regimented at present, but they will multiply over time, and are certainly more numerous this year than last, so we hope to have a real bank of colour up there in time.
“The display will hopefully remind folk of Rotary’s End Polio Campaign each year, which is getting ever closer to eradicating this debilitating disease, with complete success not far away with limited outbreaks which affect just a couple of countries following years of vaccinating on a worldwide basis.”
When The Rotary Club of Westbury planted them adjoining the Bratton Road, they also gifted some to Dilton Marsh School, Chapmanslade School and Cygnets Pre-school on the Leigh Park Estate in Westbury.
More crocuses planted in All Saints Churchyard and Bitham Park Road at the end of 2020 are now starting to come up.
