CALLING all film fans! An exciting new monthly movie club has been set up in Westbury and will be kicking off in two weeks’ time with this year’s ‘Eddie the Eagle’.
The Alley Film Club has been started by local friends Steve Whiston, Julian Phelps and Neil Blanche. The club will meet on the third Tuesday of every month in the skittle alley of the Horse and Groom on Edward Street.
Neil says, “For the first film we wanted a feel-good movie and Eddie The Eagle suits that role perfectly.”
The film will be shown on Tuesday 20th September at 8pm. The cinema has seating for 40 people, so get there early to ensure your seat. Tickets can be bought in advance by emailing westburyalleyfilmclub@yahoo.com
“We found the skis used in the photo in The Old Hat Box on Maristow Street,” Julian says. “They are beautifully designed and very long. I am sure if Eddie the Eagle had used them he could have flown a few more inches!
“We will also be having special events throughout the year. The first will be at Halloween when people will be encouraged to dress up in character and watch a horror classic.”
Bob Musker, owner and landlord of the Horse and Groom said, “We are really pleased to be involved in this community project and if you need sustenance beforehand, the Horse and Groom will have a light supper menu, as well as our usual choice of traditional beers.”
