Matravers School is celebrating a year of academic achievement, with both Sixth Form and GCSE students achieving what the school describes as record-breaking results.

Year 13 students received their A-level and BTEC results on Thursday 14th August, with the school reporting ‘amazing’ results.

Top A-level performers included Kieran Wilkinson who is going to study medicine at the University of Bristol having secured A*AAA in his A levels and an A in his Extended Project. Rebekah Slarke is also going to study medicine following three A grades; she is headed to East Anglia. A third successful medicine student who also achieved three A grades is Emy Yao who is going to Cardiff University. Tabi Coleman gained A*A*A is going to Manchester University to study Fashion Marketing. Abby Price gained AAC and is going to study Law at the University of Exeter. Ruby Yates achieved ABB and will be studying History and Politics at Warwick. Emmy Jones gained three B grades at A level and has won a scholarship with the Royal Navy to support both her studies and training, one of only ten in the country to have achieved this.

Matravers Sixth Form also offers a ‘mixed pathway’ of A levels and BTECs, allowing students to access competitive destinations. Among this year’s successful students this year are Joseph Morgan who is heading to Sussex to study Robotic and Mechatronic Engineering having achieved Distinction* BC, and Daisee Beavan who is going to train to be a PE teacher at Plymouth Marjon with her two Distinctions and a C. Jess Finbow is moving on to study Theatre at the University of York having achieved a Distinction*, D and B. Zoe Reed, Sarah Burr and Faith Collings are all going to Bath Spa to study Creative Writing, Creative Media and Forensic Science respectively.

Students studying solely vocational subjects have also excelled, including Tayla Plummer is starting training as a paramedic at Bristol UWE having secured two Distinctions and a Merit. Abi Fielding is starting a business apprenticeship with her Distinction, Merit and C grade, and Ethan Sims will be studying football coaching at Wembley with the UCFB having achieved three Distinctions. Landsley Bowerman also gained three Distinctions and is off to study Cyber Security at Bristol UWE.

A week later, on Thursday 21st August, the school said it was celebrating the best GCSE and BTEC results in its history.

Notable results include Adam Howe who achieved an average grade of an 8 across all subjects, whilst Josh Barden, Abigail Mayo, Isabella Creighton, Kai Gibbons and Bella Hillier all achieved average grades of 7.

Headteacher Dr Simon Riding said, “This is a tremendous moment for the school. These results are not only the best we’ve ever had – they prove beyond doubt that Matravers School is a place where young people achieve at the very highest level. Our pupils have worked incredibly hard, our staff have gone above and beyond, and together we have created a culture where academic success is the norm. We look forward to welcoming back a high percentage of the Class 2025 to our 6th form. To the pupils who will leave us, you will always be part of the Matravers family, and we wish you all the best for the future.”
