BECKS Mill play area has officially re-opened after a £28,000 revamp.
Earlier this month, Mayor of Westbury, cllr Gordon King, welcomed children from Westbury Leigh Primary School to be the first to play on the 11 pieces of new equipment that have been installed, based on the theme ‘Becks Mill Train Station’.
At the official opening ceremony, cllr King said, “I hope that this newly refurbished park will encourage children to play, learn and live life to the full.”
Up to 50 children will be able to play in the park at any one time and enjoy the new equipment that includes a play bench, a train with carriages, a trampoline, swings, and a spinning wok.
The renovations have been made possible by money obtained from Section 106 money from local housing developments.
The town council came up with the design and theme of ‘Becks Mill Train Station’ after asking for ideas and comments on what children would like via social media, newspapers and their website.
Becks Mill play area is one of 10 play areas that the town council is taking over responsibility for, which were previously run by Wiltshire Council.
