Applications are now open for this year’s White Horse Soapbox Derby, with organisers promising a day of creativity, community spirit and adrenaline-fuelled fun.
The annual event, organised by Westbury Town Council event in partnership with Landmarc Solutions, is set to take place on 17th May.
Event organisers are encouraging those interested in participating as racers, sponsors or stallholders to apply soon. “Applications are filling up fast,” said Ryan Child, event manager for Westbury Town Council. “If you’ve been dreaming of showcasing your engineering genius or selling your goods to an enthusiastic crowd, now is the time to act!” Applications can be submitted at whitehorsesoapboxderby.co.uk.
The event is supported by sponsors such as Honeystone Web Design, Arke Ltd and Torn. This year, the James Dyson Foundation is the STEM partner, hosting a marquee dedicated to science, technology, engineering and maths. “We’re building on the ethos of providing a practical introduction to STEM for young people,” said Ryan. The initiative includes workshops and year-round activities, such as a “build-your-own-windmill” project.
“This year, we’re set to break records with the number of workshops and STEM initiatives,” Ryan added. “Plus, there’s the small matter of another incredible festival of soapbox racing, music and fun!”
The organisers are inviting racers, businesses and vendors to join the event. “Whether you’re a racer ready to take on the iconic White Horse course, a company looking to build your profile and support STEM education, or a vendor eager to reach a vibrant audience, we’d love to have you,” added Ryan.
“Mark your calendars for 17th May and prepare for a day filled with excitement, innovation and entertainment.”
