A GROUP of local businesspeople recently returned from a five-day banger rally from France to Italy, through which they raised £1,000 for the Westbury Lions Club.
Westbury business owners Natasha Penny and Matt Rowe took part in the Motoscape Rally in a BMW 330 bought for less than £333. They were accompanied by four friends from Westbury and Warminster.
Natasha, owner of Busy Books accountancy said, “The rally was brilliant! It definitely lived up to expectations and was even better than last year. Having a group of us this time made it more fun, and we were better prepared. We even took our own kettle!
“I’m really pleased to have reached our £1,000 fundraising target thanks to generous donations from our customers, friends and family.
“My favourite part of the trip was visiting Paris and the Eiffel Tower, as I’d never been there before. The rally finished in Venice and driving in Italy was definitely the worst part.
“The car was brilliant; it had no problems clocking up a total of 2,368 miles and even survived two thrashings round the Nurburgring – a special thanks to Challenge Tyres for giving us the tyres to do it on.
“The trip made us realise how many miles we can actually cover in a day, and we’re thinking about doing a tour of the UK in the future, to see some of the things we’ve missed closer to home.”
Natasha and Matt’s fundraising will go to the Westbury Lions Club, which raises money for local people in need via its welfare fund.
