Biggest ever transport gathering a spring success

VINTAGE vehicles, machines, engines and exhibits were the order of the day in Bratton, when the 22nd annual gathering took place and was hailed the biggest ever by its organiser.

Westbury Transport and Vintage Gathering took place in Bratton on the 23rd and 24th April, and organiser Keith Miller has said that, after 22 years, the event is stronger than ever.

“The weekend went excellently and it was one of the best years ever for us,” said Keith. “We had a very good turnout, the weather – which hasn’t been on our side for a few years – was unbelievably good. There were more exhibitors than ever before and lots of new faces.

“I’ve had a lot of great feedback from people who came along – no-one’s had a bad word to say about it.

“I think one of our keys to success is being friendly and low-key. We have a group of core exhibitors who contribute every year  and newcomers are always welcomed. It’s our own field so we’re very flexible and it’s a completely informal event.”

The weekend saw a number of enthusiasts show off a wide range of machines ranging from classic cars, lorries and motorbikes, to stationary engines to military vehicles.

“I’d say there were about 1,000 people who came along over the two days,” Keith continued. “All in all, it was a very good weekend. We’ll definitely be back next year – same time, same place!”
