WESTBURY Junior School pupil Thomas Smith has won a competition to design his school’s football kit.
The competition, organised by One Stop Shop in Westbury, saw students design a football kit and the winning design will be made into a kit for their school’s football team.
Thomas’ mum Sarah Smith said, “His dad Tim and I are so proud of him. He has Asperger’s syndrome so he can be negative about himself, but winning this competition has given him a huge confidence boost.
“He was really inspired by the competition and did it without any help. He is interested in football but doesn’t play, however he was given his own kit which he was really happy with.
“This is really huge for him, especially with all the attention, but he’s shown pride in himself.”
Headteacher Richard Hatt said, “When Thomas Smith in Year 5 entered the One Stop Shop design a football kit competition we were very hopeful. It was a very pleasant surprise to find out that the football kit he had designed would be made up into a full kit for the school.
“Thomas is a very modest boy, but he has received the thanks of the whole school. This dazzling kit will make us the smartest, if not the best, sports team.”
