THE seventeenth Bratton Hilly Run took place on Saturday 11th May, with the number of runners up from last year’s event.
136 runners tackled the challenging terrain over the 11.4km course, starting and finishing at the Jubilee Hall in Bratton.
First place went to local runner Samuel Pictor, who completed the course in 41 minutes and 55 seconds, knocking almost two minutes off his winning time from last year. Second place went to Ryan Smith (43.37) and third place to Geoff Ellis (44.19).
The first female back was Natalie Southernwood, in 50.34. Second female went to Fiona Price (51.37) and third place to Diane Hier (51.46).
Dot Reeves, one of the organisers said, “We had 136 entries, which was 38 more than last year, so we’re really pleased with the turnout. We get a mix of people from the south, and then there’s a bus load down from Leicester. There was a very good atmosphere as well.
“The weather was cooler, and we had a couple of runners say they preferred that to the [warm] weather of the previous week.”
A donation from the hilly run will be made to Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
The Bratton Jubilee Hall Management Committee and organisers would like to thank all the marshalls and other volunteers who, without their support, the event would not be possible.
