TWO Westbury brothers are working their way up in the world of minibike racing, as one has joined a professional team and the other has been getting good results after moving up a class.
Jay and Sean Able, aged 11 and nine, have already been riding for a combined nine years and are making good progress.
Dad Mark, who runs Able Motorcycle Training in Westbury says, “Jay and Sean have been competing for the last couple of years in the British Minibikes Championship, and this year Sean has been picked to race under the banner of the Tommy Hill Racing Team, for ePayMe Yamaha for next year on a MiniGP50.
“He will be riding essentially the same bike as his brother’s 70cc bike, but with a 50cc engine. He is doing well this year in the ‘pro’ class Minimoto Championship.
“Jay started this year on a MiniGP70, although he was a little early stepping up to this class as he is competing against lads who are two or three years older. However, he has exceeded expectations with his best result being a 4th place so far. There are two more rounds left, and he’s hoping for a podium before the end of the year.
“With some solid results behind him this year, it’ll be the next season where he’ll be putting everything into getting top three finishes and challenging for the title.
“Both starting their racing careers at the Scott Redding Young Riders Academy at M4 Karting in Hullavington. They’ve got a famous fan in the form of Danny Kent, current World Moto3 Champion, who happens to live locally! It’s no surprise that both boys have ambitions to one day be in MotoGP.”
