FORMER employees of Westbury Cement Works who suffer with asbestos- related illnesses could be entitled to compensation and are being encouraged to come forward.
Asbestos was widely used at Westbury Cement Works and as a result employees were exposed to asbestos dust which can cause health problems and diseases such as mesothelioma and lung cancer.
Those who worked at the cement plant or their families, who have developed asbestos-related illnesses are being encouraged to come forward for possible compensation.
Maggie Powell an associate at Withyking who is acting on behalf of clients said, “I would encourage people to come forward if their health has been affected by asbestos from the cement plant.
“People have nothing to lose by contacting us as the initial work is free and if the client’s claim is unsuccessful then we do not charge.
“There is a long interval between the actual exposure to asbestos and the development of asbestos-related illnesses and sadly there remains the chance that employees who worked at the cement works during the 1960s may go on to develop asbestos-related illnesses.
“I would be very surprised if there aren’t a lot of cases because it was widely used at the cement plant. You may not have linked your symptoms to asbestos so visit your doctor and get your symptoms checked.”
A family from Trowbridge whose father worked at the cement works for over 25 years and died of mesothelioma after he was exposed to asbestos, contacted Withy King and were awarded an undisclosed fee.
If you believe you could be entitled to compensation, call Withy King on 0800 051 8056 or email pi.enquiries@withyking.co.uk
