LOCAL author, Rosie Evitt, now has a stunning cover design for her new children’s book – thanks to a competition which she ran in White Horse News. Ten-year-old Charli Seviour, who attends Westbury Leigh Primary School, drew the winning design for ‘Tom’s Seaside Holiday.’
Rosie said, “The judges were unanimous in their decision and the choice was a difficult one to make – there is some genuine talent among those primary age children.
“The winning picture has been turned into a cover page; the details of the winner and two runners up will be inside the book.
“Well done Charli, that is a wonderful drawing and I’ll be honoured to have it as the front cover of my book, Tom’s Seaside Holiday.”
Charli’s mother, Sandra Seviour, said that Charli is always busy drawing every day and she enjoyed designing the book cover.
The runners-up were Zuzanna Kapelka age 8, (nearly 9.) and Amelia Rose Yeoman aged 8.
Speaking about Zuzanna’s design, Rosie said, “This is a colourful and imaginative drawing, mostly of a lovely seascape with a small beach in the foreground. A super picture.”
She described Amelia Rose’s entry as “A bright and lively drawing with many beach type objects on display. Well done Amelia Rose.
“Please Charli, Zuzanna and Amelia Rose keep drawing as you are showing great talent with an understanding of colour and form.
“Hopefully all entrants enjoyed the challenge of a competition during this lengthy and unexpected time at home. Thank you for your participation. Very well done all of you.”
