The annual Christmas Tree Festival returns this weekend to All Saints Church and will conclude with a Christingle service.
Around 50 decorative trees will be on display. The festival runs on Friday 5th December from 2pm to 7pm, Saturday 6th December from 10am to 7.30pm, and Sunday 7th December from 11am to 4pm.
On Sunday 7th December at 4pm, there will be a special Christingle service.
“A Christingle includes an orange, cocktail sticks, sweets, a candle and a red ribbon,” said Reverend Rebecca Harris, Team Rector of All Saints Church. “Each part reminds us of the story of Jesus, who Christians believe came to save the world and show us his light, peace and love.
“We sing hymns and songs, listen to the story of Jesus, light candles and sit in the darkness lit up by the lights on the Christmas trees. We have some time to reflect and pray.
“We also take a collection for the work of The Children’s Society, which exists to provide support for vulnerable children and young people here and around the country.
“All are welcome to this special service. Last year, we were thrilled to welcome a cross-section of the community, from a babe-in-arms to elderly residents of local nursing homes and one of the oldest members of our community at 99.
“We look forward to seeing you this year.”
