WESTBURY Area Board awarded over £8,000 of grants to support local groups and community projects at a meeting at The Laverton last month.
Wiltshire Council devolves significant funding to the area boards in order for them to invest in local community projects and initiatives that meet local priorities.
The grants awarded were:
• Westbury Area Board – £500 towards Westbury public living room. Public living rooms are aimed at reducing social isolation and loneliness within communities. Seating areas are established within public spaces or at community events where people can sit down just to socialise with others there.
• West Wilts Ramblers work party – £678.80 towards work party equipment
• Westbury Shed – £2,418 towards repairing and upgrading the workshop
• Westbury Youth FC – £2,150 towards Westbury Youth FC equipment and improving facilities
• Blue Circle Bowls Club – £2,000 towards the club’s new external seating area
• White Horse Short Mat Bowls Club – £550 towards a new short mat bowls carpet for the club
