WOODLAND activity centre Hidden Woods, founded by Steve Sutherland from Dilton Marsh, has won ‘Best Local Activity for Children Aged 5-12’ at the ‘What’s On 4 Junior Awards 2014’.
The awards, which are in their eighth year, celebrate the best activities, classes and venues across the UK. The ceremony took place on 20th June at Drayton Manor Hotel, Staffordshire, with founder and Forest School leader Steve Sutherland accepting the award in person.
Steve said, “We’re thrilled that Hidden Woods has been recognised in this way. To pick up such a prestigious award just two years after opening is a real achievement for the whole team.”
Over 8,000 nominations were made, which attracted over 90,000 international votes. The category was open to activity providers nationwide who have an offering which is unique to a certain location.
Based in a purpose-built camp over 80 acres of ancient woodland near Farleigh Hungerford, Hidden Woods provides outdoor events and activities for both children and adults, from school holiday clubs and birthday parties through to overnight family camps and corporate team days.
Steve added, “We’d like to thank everyone that has supported us, both with these awards and since we started welcoming groups to the woods. We hope to continue to develop our offering and to create more magical experiences for local families and schools in the future.”
