This year’s Dilton Marsh Flower and Handicraft Show was a celebration of local talent, with flower arrangements, home-grown vegetables and home-baked goodies entries among the highlights on display.
The annual event, held on Saturday 26th July, drew visitors to the village’s Memorial Hall.
Angie Gibbs, chair and committee member, said, “The doors opened at 2pm and there were already people eagerly waiting to come inside. The hall was bustling with beautiful exhibits and villagers enjoying the show along with a refreshment. Lots of smiles were on the faces of those who exhibited and were awarded a certificate or two.
“It’s so nice to stand back and watch the show come alive with people enjoying what others have worked hard on.”
The winners of the trophies were Andrew Jones, Ann Frisby, Margaret Bryant, Tess Brocksopp, Sonja Harris, Ricci Achillini, Flour Ply Knits for the group display class, Miss Hart and Angie Gibbs, plus all of the children to come first in the under 16’s classes were presented with a token prize.

After the prize giving, Mr Honor led an auction of produce where bids were made for various vegetables, flowers and home-baked goodies.
Angie added, “We had an amazing number of Victoria Sandwiches this year, eleven in total, and quite a few of those were kindly donated to our auction of produce. Four group entries showed that when friends and family get together, they can really work some magic – they were all really good.
“Little Marshians baby and toddler group entered a seaside holiday-themed group display as well as lots of beautifully decorated party hats. It’s so sweet to see what the under-fives can do.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported the show this year, either by sponsorship, spreading the word, entering as an exhibitor, judging or helping out. A few I’d like to mention are the gardening club for serving refreshments, Jocelyn Short who kindly writes out the certificates, and our auctioneer Mr Honor. Thanks also to the committee members who have worked behind the scenes since October and on the day itself.”
