Dilton Marsh Primary School was one of eight choirs participating in the first Young Choir of Wiltshire competition at St. John’s Church, Devizes.
The choir was called ‘inspirational’ by judges and was subsequently asked to be guests at a local adult choir.
Three nationally-known adjudicators formed the competition jury for this event which took place on Saturday 10th May.
Dilton Marsh Primary School’s choir conductor, Emma Murray said, “The choir did really well and sang fantastically. We had a 10-minute slot which included soloists and harmonies.
“Although we didn’t win, we received special comments from one of the judges saying that the choir was very special, showed great energy and sang at a high standard. They will now have the opportunity to sing at The Philomel Singers’ concert, a choir from Trowbridge.”
Headteacher of Dilton Marsh Primary School, Judith Finney said, “We have an amazing choir with a great music teacher and they have all worked so hard. There are over 70 members of the choir so only a small selection were able to attend. It is something new for the children to do.
“As a treat for all their hard work, we will be taking them to see the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in Salisbury in July.”
