A fundraising evening for Westbury Youth Club, held at The Railway Inn on Saturday 14th April, raised a total of £449. The youth club solely relies on donations and members’ fees to keep running.
The evening saw a disco, quiz, a raffle and an auction. There were donations from 24 different companies or individuals, with prizes including signed EastEnders memorabilia.
Beth Mullins-Watts, a volunteer at the youth club, said, “We cannot thank the people who donated enough. The money raised is going directly to our members and as a token of our success, they all enjoyed a free ice-cream during the club last week. The money will allow us to keep running and provide somewhere safe for the young people of Westbury to go, once a week.
“After the success of this event, we are already planning to hold another fundraising night next year, as we rely on donations and a member entrance fee of just £1 to keep us going. The money we raise is so important to us as a club.”
The youth club is held on Wednesdays during term-time from 6.00pm–8.00pm for youngsters from 11 – 18 years. Fees are £1 per week. For more details about the club email westburyyouth club@gmail.com
