Family carers of people living with dementia in Wiltshire are invited to a free online training course starting on 8th March. Run by Alzheimer’s Support, the six weekly sessions will be held on Monday mornings in the comfort of carers’ own homes.
The charity’s community services coordinator Kate Sharpe said, “We are delighted to offer this course online and please don’t worry if you have not used the technology before. We can help people get online as long they have a laptop, tablet or smartphone.
“People taking part will gain information that benefits their life and the life of the person they care for. It is very friendly and relaxed. Just being able to discuss ideas with others who share similar circumstances can be such a welcome relief.”
The course aims to help participants understand what their relative or friend may go through as their type of dementia develops. The sessions are led by experts in their field and cover all aspects of caring for someone living with dementia, including managing problems at home, the legal and financial aspects of caring, safer moving and assisting, and options for care.
