DESPITE a plea for new premises, Westbury Lions Club has made the decision to close down their fundraising bookshop, which has been raising funds for the community for the last 25 years.
The current premises on Edward Street was opened in June last year following their move from Warminster Road. However, the current owner of the property wants to take possession of the shop, leaving the Lions with no new premises to move to.
Westbury Lions said, “After over 25 years of raising funds through our book shops in various locations in the town, we have with the loss of our present premises reluctantly decided to close down this avenue of funding. We thank the past and present owners for their generosity in allowing us the use of their premises.
“We would also like to thank both our volunteers and customers for their great support, raising funds for our local charity. All books will be at reduced prices until the shop closes on Sunday 23rd June.”
