FOLLOWING a plea by Fairfield Farm College, Mirage Signs based in Warminster, has offered to buy Lyas the horse.
Lyas had been on loan to the college and became a much-loved member of the college community. He was due to be sold unless the college could raise enough money to buy him but thanks to an appeal in the White Horse News, he will now stay at the college.
Helen Beer, on behalf of Fairfield said, “On reading our plea in the paper, Mary from Mirage Signs immediately phoned and pledged to buy Lyas for us, which is amazing.
“After she had told us, I think there was a sense of disbelief that someone was willing to help out to such an extent. Mary said she likes to support animals, and the college appealed to her due to the nature of its work. Students are absolutely over the moon, they are thrilled to bits. I don’t think there are any words to thank her enough, just a massive, massive thank you.”
