COLLISION Fight Academy instructor Danny Sergiu has added a K1 British title to his name, after his fight in Evesham, Worcestershire, on Saturday 2nd March.
It is the latest success for the instructor, who runs Collision Fight Academy in Westbury, and won the Intercontinental belt and European title last year.
In his latest title fight, Danny came up against experienced kickboxer Alex Davis, who has over nine title belts to his name.
Danny said, “This was a massive test for me as I changed all my previous training places and partners for the preparation for this fight. Other than working with people from my own club, I have also done quite a bit of sparring in several gyms in Bristol. Everything worked perfectly and I hope to keep this training format going for my next fights as well. I can’t be happier at the moment. I have three fights on a winning streak and they are all big titles.”
Collision Fight Academy was also represented at the event by 16-year-olds Kieran Hardy and Corey Paterson. Danny said, “Unfortunately, Hardy sustained a hand fracture in the first round, and the medics had to stop the fight.
“On the other hand, Paterson, who was stepping in the ring for the first time had a different type of misfortune. He fought a kickboxer that had experience of seven fights. Even though his opponent was more skilled, Paterson showed great determination, cardio and power in his shots. At the end of the three rounds, the judges scored in favour of Paterson’s opponent, Bailey Sudgen.
“I feel so blessed with having such great people in my fight team and my club. We have come such a long way since 2010 when we opened the club. When we started, we were mostly doing it to keep fit, but now we have some blackbelts in the club, and we are creating and promoting fighters, winning titles and loving every bit of it.
“I would like to thank all the people that keep Collision Fight Academy going and growing day by day, and hopefully we will grow bigger and better every day with the help of our supporters, students and new students that are always welcome in our Bath or Westbury branches.”
