THE weight limit on the Station Road bridge is due to be increased.
Network Rail is proposing to carry out strengthening works on the bridge next April. Once the strengthening is completed, the weight limit will be increased to 7.5 tonnes.
The weight limit was reduced to three tonnes last November after concerns were raised over the long term structural integrity of the bridge. Buses and emergency vehicles over 3 tonnes have been diverted along Slag Lane and Hawkeridge Road.
