WESTBURY Town Council has awarded £13,000 to good causes around the town and villages.
Every year the council budgets an amount to be distributed to various causes that benefit the local community, and considers applications from local organisations.
This year, grants ranging from £100 to £500 each were awarded to 53 local organisations.
Organisations who requested grants first had to fill in an application form, giving an outline of what the organisation does and how it benefits Westbury and its residents, as well as highlighting its projects. Once all the grant applications were received, the town clerk and mayor were among a group who assessed all the grants.
The grants to be awarded were approved at a town council meeting on Monday 10th January.
A cheque presentation to the beneficiaries will be made next month.
