FOR THE first time residents in Westbury will have the chance to have a direct say on what should be the policing priorities for the town.
The next meeting of the Westbury Neighbourhood Tasking Group (NTG), on Tuesday 9th February, is being opened to the public for the first time. The group meets every three months to review and revise the policing issues in the town and identify the top three priorities for the Neighbourhood Policing Team .
Typically the NTG is made up of representatives from the police, councillors and other relevant groups, but this time the doors will be open for residents to have their say. In a statement the NTG said, “We would like to encourage the Westbury town public to come to our NTG meeting, we are opening it up to the public for the first time as a trial and we obviously want it to be a success.
“This is a meeting where all the priorities for the town are set. This is not a police-led meeting and it will be chaired by a member of your community. If you have concerns in your neighbourhood (or even good news stories about your community) please come along.
“We set three priorities that will be looked at for the next three months, working in joint partnership with police, council, housing etc.
“If you don’t let us know about your issues /concerns then we cannot set them as priorities.
“We can only make this meeting successful if the public get involved. If you have elderly or disabled relatives or friends in the area that are unable to make the meeting, come along on their behalf or contact Westbury police station and let us know the issues.
“We are encouraging all ages so we get a true picture about what is happening within our community.”
Currently Westbury’s three priorities are:-
1) Anti-Social behaviour involving mini moto’s at Wellhead Woods,
2) Anti-Social behaviour involving youths in the High Street, public toilets and Rotunda,
3) Illegal parking in the High Street and Market Place.
The meeting will be held at Westbury Youth Club, Eden Vale Road, on Tuesday 9th February at 6.00pm. All residents, employees and employers of Westbury town are welcome.
Drop in session at
Westbury Police Station.
The next Drop In at Westbury police station is being held on Thursday 4th February between the hours of 2:00-4:00pm.
