WESTBURY Youth FC is offering the unique opportunity to see one of the all-time greats of English Football, Ron “Chopper” Harris, appearing locally at the Paragon Hall, Westbury, on Saturday 17th September.
Ron “Chopper” Harris played for Chelsea in the 1960s and 70s, becoming widely considered as one of the toughest defenders of his time. On Saturday, you can hear all about the highs and lows of the legendary all-time Chelsea appearance record holder’s career – including all those infamous tackles!
As well as hearing from the footballer, there will be an opportunity to purchase signed memorabilia from Chopper Harris by way of an auction. Also on stage will be comedian and compere Mick Pugh. Doors open at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start and the evening, with a bar available, will end at approximately 10.30pm.
Tickets are £7.50 each and are available from Paul Bryant on 07841 137921 or any age group manager from Westbury Youth.
All proceeds go directly to Westbury Youth FC. Westbury Youth Football Club was formed in 1992, and has developed into a successful Charter Standard level club for the youth of Westbury and surrounding villages. It has catered for thousands of youth players over the years and each year young players between the ages of 6 to 18 represent the club.
The club is run voluntarily by parents and helpers and is currently chaired by Mr T. Macdonald, who has help this post for the last 10 years.
Home matches and training are carried out at Redland Lane and Westbury Junior School, and during the winter Matravers School and Leighton Sports Centre are used for evening training.
Each year the club holds a major Summer Tournament which is the main fund raiser for the club, which secures equipment and other facilities for the children to enjoy.
The club will be celebrating its 20th anniversary next year.
