IT was standing room only as the Rotary Club of Westbury held their annual carol service at All Saints Church on Monday 12th December.
Amidst some 60 trees housed in the church for the Christmas Tree Festival, three local schools, Dilton Marsh Primary School, Westbury Junior School, and Bitham Brook Primary School all performed musical items at the concert. The congregation was able to join in with a number of carols, accompanied by Bratton Silver Band. Much to the children’s delight Father Christmas made a special appearance at the end of the concert.
The event is a firmly established favourite in the town’s Christmas calendar of events, and this year celebrated the 25th year of the service.
Rotary president Cavan Algar said, “It was a really lovely evening, the children were outstanding as they always are. Thanks to the ladies of the Inner Wheel for doing the refreshments, and also thank you to the Revd Jonathan Burke for the use of the church.”
Rotarian John Ridgers added, “The church looking at its best, the band and the enchanting singing of the children – how could anyone fail to be entranced? This is the essence of Christmas and while the proud mums and dads and grandmas and granddads turn up in such numbers we will continue the tradition!”
The Rotary Club gratefully acknowledges the support of the event by Elkins Motors, Creative Quality Solutions Ltd, Action Sales Associates and Cards Plus.
