WESTBURY Town Council has awarded around £12,000 to good causes around the town and villages.
Every year the council budgets an amount to be distributed to various causes that benefit the local community, and considers applications from local organisations.
This year, grants ranging from £100 to £500 each have been awarded to 50 local organisations, as approved by the town council on Monday 9th January.
Organisations were invited to apply for grants last year, stating what they would like a potential grant to go towards. The town council’s finance committee then went through the applications to assess if applicants met the criteria, and ensure the grants were going towards causes that will benefit the local community.
The grants will be presented to the beneficiaries next month, where a representative of each group will accept the money and explain what it will go towards.
