YOUNG karate brothers, JJ and Shayne Smith, organised a fundraising sparathon, raising £1,000 for Crohn’s and Colitis UK, on Saturday 1st February.
Ten-year old JJ, who trains at Kime Karate Club in Westbury and his eight year old brother Shayne, who trains at Dragons Lair MMA in Melksham, organised the event together involving other students from both clubs.
They wanted to raise money for Crohn’s and Colitis UK as JJ has suffered from Crohn’s disease for the past three years. The sparathon saw 24 two-minute rounds of fighting from 2.15pm -3.15pm at Leigh Park Community Centre.
Their mother, Kayleigh Eaton said, “Both JJ and Shayne are over the moon to have raised so much for a cause that is so special to JJ – especially as they set themselves a target to raise £50! They wanted to use the love of their martial arts to create something that everyone can join in with, whilst raising money.
“Thank you to the students from Dragon’s Lair MMA in Melksham for joining in and to Club 24 fitness who sponsored the t-shirts.”
