A charity football match organised by a local team has raised over £700 for a children’s hospice.
Dilton Marsh Wanderers took on Bishop Cannings FC to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West.
Dilton managers Boe Lawes and Steve Wyatt, alongside club captain Dale Rowland, recently visited Charlton Farm in Bristol where they were given a tour of the hospice and saw first-hand the care and support provided to children and families.
“Thanks to generous player donations alongside contributions from friends and families, the event raised an incredible £714 for the hospice,” said Steve. “While Dilton came away with an entertaining 5-2 victory, the real success of the day was the support shown for such an important cause.
“On the pitch, both sides played the game in excellent spirit and contributed to a brilliant occasion. Everyone involved left knowing the bigger picture mattered far more than the result.
“The club would like to thank Phil Hendy and Bishop Cannings, referee Matt Cupples, along with everyone who donated and all those who came along to support on the day.”
