BRATTON Parish Council has achieved a reduction in the speed limit between the village and Edington – from 50mph to 40mph.
In the parish newsletter, residents were informed that the council worked with Edington Parish and the Westbury Area Board to lower the legal speed vehicles can travel at along the road, and signage will be changed in the coming weeks.
“The cost of the change is £2,918, of which the parish council will pay £364.75 (12 1⁄2 %),” parish council chair, Jeff Ligo, wrote in the newsletter. “Initially, the area board wanted the two parishes to contribute 50% but thanks to representations made by the two parishes, supported by our Wiltshire councillor, Suzanne Wickham, this was reduced by half. Thanks to cllr Forsyth for leading on this and achieving both the revised speed limit and the reduction in our contribution.”
