A MINI festival held in memory of Dilton Marsh man Stuart Lange has been hailed a fantastic success by organisers with 1,000 people attending the day and 150 motorcyclists joining the rideout.
Friends and family of Stuart Lange who was killed in a motorcycle accident last summer, put together ‘Langefest’ in his memory and to raise money for charity – the festival was held the day after the anniversary of Stuart’s death.
Nicky Harding who helped organise the event said, “We are delighted to say that Langefest 2017 was a resounding success. The event, which was organised by a committee of Stuart Lange’s friends in his memory, got off to a great start. The event commenced with a briefing to all of the motorbike riders from Stuart’s brother, Rich Lange. This was a poignant moment in the day as it was the anniversary of Stuart’s passing the previous day, on Saturday 1st of July. Emotions were running high and the crowd all stood for a minute’s silence in memory of Stuart. The Langefest rideout was officially opened with the release of orange balloons by Stuart’s mum, Babs Lange, and his daughter, Sophie Lange, with personal messages attached.
“We were delighted with the attendance on the day, with over 150 bikes participating in the memorial rideout. The sound of the bike engines and the spectacle of so many motorbikes leaving the venue was amazing, very poignant and most definitely resulted in goose bumps on a few people’s skin.
“So with the departure of the bikes on the rideout, the crowds began to arrive for the Family Fun Day. The day was blessed with fantastic sunshine and as a result all who attended were able to take time to soak up the atmosphere, enjoy the sunshine, listen and dance to the live music, participate in the activities provided and spend time with friends and family.
“Event organisers have worked tirelessly over the last nine months to ensure there was a selection of activities, stalls and music for everybody to enjoy. Activities on the day included Laser Quest maze, bungee trampolines, multiple bouncy castles and slides, a climbing wall, tombola and craft tent, to name a few.
“With approx 1,000 people in attendance it is safe to say the event was a success.
“We would like to thank all the local companies who supported the event by donating, equipment, activities and services (JR Harding, Tipadel, Ransomes to name a few. In particular we would like to thank the volunteers and marshalls who helped to ensure everything ran smoothly on the day, as well as Frome Rugby club for providing the venue, hot food (the hog roast was fantastic) and refreshments and our event sponsor GripIt Fixings.”
