THE Horse & Groom on Alfred Street in Westbury has been awarded a ‘Certificate of Excellence’ for the quality of its real ale by Cask Marque, the independent organisation who audit the quality of beer served in pubs all over the country.
The award came about after two unannounced inspections carried out by Cask Marquee inspectors. Each beer is checked for temperature, appearance, aroma and the Horse and Groom scored maximum points on both visits.
Bob Musker, innkeeper was delighted by the accreditation and said, “This is great news. We take a lot of pride in looking after our ales and to have an independent inspector judging our beer is a fantastic accolade.”
Westbury Councillor Philip Wakeman came along to the Horse & Groom to help put up the plaque and check out the Cask Marque inspectors opinion.
He said, “I didn’t need much persuading to come along and pull a pint at the Horse & Groom. I’ve known for a while that they have the best pint in the area and it’s great news for Bob and his staff that their hard work has been recognised.”
