DO you know someone who is struggling to make ends meet? Wiltshire Citizens Advice is starting a ‘Savvy Saver’ project to help people make the most of their income.
The project, funded by Wessex Water, is designed to help low income households who are struggling financially.
Westbury’s community engagement manager for Wiltshire Council, Liam Cripps said, “Citizens Advice has a financial capability officer, Steve Cook, who will be working very closely with other local organisations.
“The idea is that people who can’t afford rent, to heat their home, or are relying on food banks will meet with Steve for a financial assessment.
“He will try to maximise their income by doing a benefit check, looking at changing utility tariffs, identify water bill reduction schemes, discuss needs versus wants and so on.
“Often it is useful for an independent person to look at someone’s finances and it can make a really big difference. He won’t deal with debt issues but can refer on to a caseworker in the Citizens Advice if a need is identified.”
