WESTBURY Inner Wheel Club held its first meeting of the new year this month, after a charity skittles match in January.
Sheila Buckton reports, “We commenced 2017 by celebrating World Inner Wheel Day with a lunch and skittles match at Bratton Jubilee Hall. We were joined by Rotarians and friends and £181 was raised for International Charities.
“Our February meeting was held at The Chalford House Hotel. After a very nice meal President Pat Harper opened the meeting by welcoming District Chairman Kate Lewis from Frome and also District Vice-Chairman Lynne Evans.
“Kate gave a very interesting talk on her life and how she became a member of Inner Wheel. New member Joyce Atkinson was then enrolled and she was given a very warm welcome by everyone present.
“President Pat thanked the members who had organised the food for World Inner Wheel Day. A coffee morning had been held at the end of January in the home of Marjorie Kilpatrick, assisted by Linda Eaglesham. They were thanked by the President. It had been a most enjoyable morning and the sum of £65 had been raised for Inner Wheel charities.
“Thanks were also conveyed to Maureen Coward and Sheila Carruthers for organising the food for Crosspoint and the cakes for the Alzheimer’s cafe.
“The district meeting is planned for March 23rd at the Haynes Motor Museum and an executive meeting on Monday 6th March at the home of president Pat.
“Members were informed of the skittles match to take place on 22nd February at The Royal Oak, Corsley. A lunch will be available and it should be a fun time, and will also give everyone a chance to get to know fellow members.”
Inner Wheel’s next meeting will take place on Thursday 2nd March at The Chalford House Hotel.
