PUPILS at Bratton Primary School have been enjoying a jam-packed calendar of Christmas activities, with plenty more seasonal fun still to come.
The whole school has been decorated with Christmas trees, including a tree placed in each classroom by staff who stayed late to complete the transformation.
“The school looks like Narnia and smells wonderful!” said admin officer Louise Bunce. “The children arrived to see the decorations, and it was a pleasure to witness the joy and wonder on their faces.”
Adding to the festive excitement was The Bratton School Big Christmas Light Switch-On. Every child designed their own creative decoration and took turns walking up to place their creations on the hall tree before everyone counted down to the big switch-on.
“The children have produced some beautiful decorations, and they will be able to take these home to enjoy on the last day of term,” said Louise.
The school is also running its popular Advent Window Trail, with various festive-themed windows appearing each morning for children and families to find.
On Tuesday 3rd December, each class visited Bratton Baptist Church for an interactive Christmas story session with Rev Esther McManus.
The school’s festive calendar also includes nativity performances and the annual carol concert at Edington Priory.
“The carol concert is always very popular and certainly makes everyone feel festive, hearing the children sing in such an impressive building,” added Louise.
Other highlights include a special Christmas bedtime story evening with pyjamas and hot chocolate, a Christmas lunch, Christmas Jumper Day, Class Party Day, and a whole-school Christmas Activity Day. During the activity day, staff will use their own talents to host various pop-up workshops for children to try festive-themed activities such as photography, outdoor obstacle courses and Christmas dance classes.
“We are also hoping that if everyone is as good, kind, and respectful as we expect them to be, we may even have a special visit from the man in the red suit on his sleigh just before Christmas too!” Louise added.
