Paralympian shares Olympic inspiration with school children

PARALYMPIAN David Hill shared his experiences with young people last week in an event involving students and pupils from local primary schools.
The swimmer, who competed at the Paralympics in Athens in 2004, talked about his experiences and also took questions from pupils.
Matravers’ GCSE sports leaders also helped to lead workshops with the pupils from Bitham Brook Primary School, Westbury Leigh Primary School, and Dilton Marsh Primary School.
David Hill, who lives locally in Melksham, said, “Being at Athens was pretty magical. I was only 15 and was the youngest member of the team.
“Today is about inspiring the next generation, encouraging kids to try something new, to work hard at it, and to be the best they can be.”
Pupils also discussed the Paralympic values of equality, determination, inspiration and courage. They made pledges of how they could realise the values in their lives, and attached them to balloons which were then released.
