WESTBURY Leigh Primary School welcomed Brian Moses into school to formally open their new school library on thursday 27th February.
Brian Moses is a successful performance poet, percussionist and editor and has written poetry professionally for over 21 years. Brian is famous for titles such as ‘Holding the Hands of Angels’, ‘Beetles in the Bathroom’ and ‘The Snake Hotel’.
Brian spent the afternoon in the school hall performing and holding workshops for the children. This was then followed by a grand opening ceremony at 2.45pm where the ribbon to the new library was officially cut!
Parents were welcomed into school at the end of the day to see the wonderful transformation for themselves and to meet Brian and purchase signed copies of his latest titles.
Parents and children have spent many months fundraising as part of ‘Friends of Westbury Leigh School’ for the wonderful new school library facilities. The school is now extremely well equipped with bespoke shelving which houses hundreds of fabulous children’s books for all ages. Thanks have been given to Julie Cann, literacy leader who co-ordinated this.
Debbie Grimsey, headteacher said, “The new library is a wonderful gift to the children of our school and we are extremely grateful to Fowls for all their fundraising in helping us achieve this.
“Pupils love coming to the library and this now makes it a really purposeful and attractive place for them to come and browse and this can only be a good thing!
“There is no doubt that many generations will enjoy this fabulous addition to the school for many years to come.”
