WORK to transform Becks Mill Play Area will soon begin, following a public consultation to decide how the play area should be upgraded.
Westbury Town Council has received funding from Wiltshire Council and the new equipment has been ordered for the Becks Mill Play Area in Leigh Park.
Up to 50 children will be able to play in the park at any one time and 11 pieces of new equipment will be installed around the theme of ‘Becks Mill Train Station.’ These will include a play bench, a train with carriages, a trampoline, swings, and a spinning wok.
Councillor Jane Russ said, “We were very impressed with the designs that were put forward but we are delighted with the design that the public chose. I’m very much looking forward to seeing the park once it has finished and taking my grandson there. It will be a welcome upgrade for lots of families in Leigh Park and Westbury, and I hope everyone enjoys playing there.”
Town clerk Deborah Urch said, “During the installation, the play area will need to be closed for safety reasons, so we will be avoiding an installation during the school holidays and work will commence in early September.
“The town council will confirm the installation date as soon as possible and will keep the public informed with notices at Becks Mill, on our website and on social media.”
