Dilton Marsh Primary School recently held a service to remember the sacrifice and selflessness demonstrated by those who died in World War One and wars past and present.
The service came among a number of commemoration projects after artwork produced in summer last year, and a years five and six Christmas production.
Teacher Mrs Murray said, “This was another way of us coming together, to show that their lives were not lost in vain, and to ensure that their memories will always live on.
“The afternoon and evening performances were awash with Dilton’s young talent, and the students presented a programme of performing arts, that stunned, surprised and stimulated the senses!
“The sensational school choir performed beautiful wartime ballads and more modern songs, chosen to illustrate the future generations’ wishes for peace, while the school’s newly formed ‘Dilton Dance Company’ performed their choreographed number, ‘Puppets of War’, where two wartime sweethearts are lost to each other.
“The programme also included ‘In Flanders Fields’, read so eloquently by one of our year five young student leaders, and in the evening performance, two of our violinists also played suitably reflective pieces.
“The whole evening was hosted by three of our year six young leaders who guided us through the whole occasion with aplomb.
“It was an absolute privilege to share the event with the wealth of talent that we have in our young adults and as a teacher, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing our future generation blossom and shine.
“Thank you to all of you who performed. You are truly amazing.”
