A new section of footpath will be installed on Frogmore Road, near the junction with the A350, creating a more joined‑up walking route.
Work will start on Monday 2nd February and is expected to take approximately one week to complete. Wiltshire Council has advised that a 24-hour road closure will be in place for a section of Frogmore Road, although access for residents will be maintained as much as possible.
Through traffic will not be able to use this section of road while the closure is in place, between the junction with the A350 and the junction with The Paddocks.
During the closure, roadside parking will be unavailable from the A350 junction to the pedestrian footway linking to Wiltshire Way, to ensure the work can be carried out safely and to allow access for construction vehicles.
The scheme has been supported by the Westbury Local Highways and Footways Improvement Group (LHFIG) and will complete a missing footway link on Frogmore Road, northwest of the A350 junction. It will provide a continuous pedestrian route linking to local amenities such as the convenience store, children’s nursery and town centre.
Cllr Martin Smith, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said, “Safe and accessible walking routes are vital for local communities. Completing this final piece of footway on Frogmore Road will close an important gap in the network and bring real benefits for residents by making it safer and easier to walk along the route. The new footway will also provide a smoother surface, improving accessibility for wheelchair users and people with pushchairs.
“We apologise for any disruption this road closure may cause and appreciate your patience while we carry out this important work. Maintaining and improving Wiltshire’s transport infrastructure and rights of way is a priority in Our Wiltshire Plan, and this additional link is part of that.”
